Voodoo Service broke
« on: February 12, 2018, 07:12:00 pm »
My VoodooShield install got broken / corrupted today, indicating it cannot contact VoodooShield Service and asking to reinstall it completely. Is this something others are seeing or have seen? Please see attached screenshot.

Note: reboot did not help.

VoodooShield service is down and when I try to start it, it says "the system cannot find the file specified".

There were no recent updates I can think of, but I guess something must have changed in background?

I would do a clean reinstall of VS with a reboot in between!

Yes and please let us know if this fixed it.

Reinstall helped, as expected. I think what broke it was a background upgrade of McAfee Endpoint Security. Some other things broke as well I found out. Thanks.

On another note: Comodo Virus Scope identifies the new version of VoodooShield (4.17) as a Generic Trojan. Specifically, based on its behavior, Comodo thinks C:\Program Files\VoodooShield\VoodooShieldService.exe is a trojan.

This is normal, right? I asked my Comodo install to ignore this.

Glad to hear VS is now working for you. The Comodo thing you might post in the VS stable thread, someone with Comodo experience will see it there and give suggestion.
